Sandra Frum will be the keynote speaker at the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce "State of the Village" luncheon on Tuesday, December 17 at the Sheraton Northbrook, 1110 Willow Road. The Northbrook Nurses Club Lending Closet has been taken over by the Northbrook Park District. It will now be located at the Leisure/Senior Center, 3323 Walters Ave. The closet will be available any time the Senior Center is open, after a call to 847-291-2988. A waiver must be signed along with a deposit of $25.00. Wheelchairs, crutches, canes, toilet seats and more will be available for use.
A Thanksgiving Interfaith Service has been planned for Wednesday, November 27, 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 1190 Western Avenue in Northbrook. The service is presented by the Northbrook Clergy Association. All are welcome to take part in this celebration to give thanks to family, friends and neighbors in our community. If you desire, please use this as opportunity to donate canned foods or cash to benefit the Northfield Food Pantry.

On November 4, the Park District will begin selling membership passes for the The Northbrook Dog Park at Coast Guard Park. The park is expected to open in late November. The park will open at 7 a.m. and close at sunset. On Mondays and Thursdays, the parkwill open at 9:30 a.m. after maintenance. Access to the dog park will require an annual membership, which will allow unlimited use of the park. The fee is $29 for first dogs, and $15 for additional dogs through June 2014. The yearly fee is $49/$25, starting July 14. Members will receive one dog park tag and one membership ID for entry.
