The Northbrook Public Library is hosting a food drive to benefit the Northfield Township Food Pantry beginning June 1 – 30. Show your community spirit and bring in a food donation for the Northfield Township Food Pantry. The food drive is part of the Library’s commitment for 4th of July to honor the parade theme “Unity through Community”. The next time you are coming to the Library, please bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the food pantry. Donations will be collected at the Library Circulation desk.
The Northbrook Chamber of Commerce & Industry will hold a golf event at Sportsman's Country Club on Friday, June 14, 2013. Early bird registration is until May 28. Costs are $180 for individuals, $695 for a foursome - after May 28 - $190 per golfer. To register call 847-498-5555.
Come to the GBN Concert in the Park at the Village Green on Saturday, June 1st at 12:30 p.m. to hear the Glenbrook North bands and choirs perform. Bring your chairs and blankets! Help support the Band Parent Organization by buying snacks at the concession booth. Free admission!
Jennifer Whiting will lead the Northbrook Community Choir on May 31 in a concert called "ChiaroScuro" Light and Shadow" at the Northbrook Theatre. 45 members will be accompanied by a string quartet, piano and percussion. It's the Rotary Club's annual Rubber Ducky Race! You can enter a duck in the race for $5 or enter six ducks for $25 (the popular Quack Pack). The Sports Center Pool will open for the 2013 season on Saturday, May 25. Preseason hours are 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. on weekends and the holiday and 3 - 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. The regular season begins on June 8 when Meadowhill Aquatic Center opens. Visit nbparks.org
Beginning February 1, community based groups and school districts can apply for an outdoor facility permit. Parks and shelters are available for rent from May through October with special rates for resident school and scout groups.
