Thanks to everyone who brought in old art supplies throughout the month of August for our recycling drive. We filled several boxes which we will send to Terracycle to be recycled and repurposed.
Take a look at how much we received:
Do you have dried-up markers, old paint brushes and broken crayons to get rid of? During the month of August, you can recycle them at the library. Drop them off at the Youth Services desk on the second floor and we will send them to Terracycle to be repurposed. You can also bring them to our booth at the Farmers Market on July 23 or August 20.
Did you know you can recycle milk and juice cartons made of paperboard? Here is a list of the types of containers you can put in your recycling bin in Northbrook:
Do you have personal documents that you want to dispose of safely? Bring up to 3 boxes or bags to the Village Hall parking lot on Saturday, July 12 from 9am to 1pm. The documents will be shredded and the paper will be recycled. Sponsored by the Northbrook Civic Foundation.
Shop for locally grown produce and other locally made goods at the Northbrook Farmers Market every Wednesday from 7am to 1pm until October 8. The market is located at the corner of Cherry and Meadow.
Looking for recipes to make with your purchases? Take a look at our From Your Farmers Market board on Pinterest for ideas.
The Village Garage in Northbrook is no longer accepting paint for recycling. Paint must be taken to the Northfield Township Road District garage at 1928 Lehigh in Glenview. See the township website for other materials you can recycle there.
Large electronics are still accepted at the Northbrook Village Garage on the first Tuesday of the month through October. You can also recycle small electronics, light bulbs and batteries Monday through Friday from 8am to 3pm.
The schedules are finished! The Volunteer Google Calendar has been shared with all of you. Check your email!
If anyone is having difficulty locating your shifts, email Summer.
Yesterday was the wall-breaking event to kick off our first floor renovations. Several people gave it a whirl with the Golden Hammer:
During our renovation, we will continue to accept household batteries for recycling as well as donations of old cell phones and eyeglasses. The bins are still in the lobby near the east entrance. Thanks for your contributions.
