The
following incidents were included in the official reports of
the Northbrook Police Department for the week of March 8 through March 15. Any persons listed are assumed to be innocent until found guilty by a court of law. It is the policy of this site to not to print the names af anyone under 18 years of age or those whose age cannot be determined from the police report.
ALCOHOL
On Sunday it was reported that Peter J. Dahm of 10 Reliance in Lincolnshire was charged with Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. Police reported when they pulled up next to his car, he was vomiting but he then fled. He was located by the police and taken to the station for processing and released to his father.
On Saturday it was reported that Frankie H. Turcios of 2420 N. New England in Chicago was charged with DUI after suspiciously following a Northbrook resident in his car to their house. He was taken to the police station for processing and released on bond.
BURGLARY
On Thursday on the 1700 block of Lancaster Way it was reported that someone forced open the front door and took numerous items of jewelry. Loss is estimated at $5,000.
On Tuesday on the 900 block of Spring Hill it was reported that someone broke a passenger door window on a car and took a Solo radar detector valued at $300.
On Friday on the 2400 block of El Cid a homeowner reported that while being out of the house someone forced open the front door. The homeowner will provide police with a list of missing items.
On Saturday security for Auto Haus located on the 1500 block of Skokie reported seeing a light blue Chevy Cavalier type vehicle leave the parking lot at a high rate of speed going northbound on Skokie. The security guard noticed a window broken at the business. A large piece of blacktop appeared to have been taken from the parking lot and thrown through the window. The building manager was contacted to connect with a board up service.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
On Sunday on the 1000 block of Hillside Dr. it was reported that someone threw a rock through the window of the home.
DRUGS
On Thursday it was reported that police stopped Michael Stryszowski of 3045 Keystone in Northbrook for a well-being check. Police found a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath and he had in his possession a grinder and small glass pipe used for cannabis. He was charged with Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. He was issued a ticket and taken to his home.
On Monday at Dundee and Skokie it was reported that Alexander Grusin of 788 Glencoe Dr. in Glencoe was a passenger in a car that was stopped for a routine traffic violation. The officer smelled cannabis, searched the car and recovered cannabis and a pipe. He was taken to the police station for processing and released.
THEFT
On Monday a woman reported while shopping at Lord & Taylor, she placed a shopping bag down to look at merchandise and the next time she looked, it was missing.
On Friday at Nordstrom Rack it was reported that Byambasuren Tseveenravdan of 8436 W. Norman in Niles was charged with Retail Theft after changing the price tags on a pair of shoes and then purchasing them. He was issued a ticket and released at the scene.
On Saturday at New England Financial located on the 700 block of Skokie Blvd. it was reported that during the night someone removed a laptop computer from an employee’s desk. All doors were checked and there were no signs found of forced entry.
On Wednesday, on the 600 block of Dundee Rd., a man reported that after returning from a Bulls game he discovered the tailgate from his car was missing.
On Wednesday a loss prevention employee at Nordstrom Rack reported seeing Cheri Cha of 330 W. Diversey in Chicago remove items from the shelves and conceal them in her purse. They also saw her wear some of the merchandise that she had not paid for. Some of the garments were reportedly torn as she reportedly attempted to remove the security tags. She is charged with Retail Theft and Criminal Damage to Property.
VIOLATION OF ORDER OF PROTECTION
On Thursday a woman reported that her ex-husband, Yevgeniy Yukhimets of 983 Kensington in Northbrook was at the home in violation of an order of protection. He was arrested and held in custody pending a bond hearing.
