The following incidents were included in the official reports of the Northbrook Police Department for the week of May 13 through May 19. Any persons listed are assumed to be innocent until found guilty by a court of law. It is the policy of this site to not to print the names af anyone under 18 years of age or those whose age cannot be determined from the police report.

ALCOHOL:

On Saturday it was reported that Brett A. Kelley of 815 N. School Street in Mount Prospect was stopped for traffic and determined to be DUI. He was taken to the police station for processing and released on bond.

On Sunday it was reported that Marchev Ivaylo Ivanov of 749 St. Johns Avenue in Highland Park was charged with DUI and DUI Over .08%. He was stopped for traffic, determined to be DUI and taken to the police station for processing.

On Tuesday it was reported that Rodrigo Trujillo of 7306 N. Damen Ave. in Chicago was charged with DUI after a becoming involved in a car collision. He was taken to the police station for processing and released on bond.

On Tuesday it was reported that Eric M. Geiger of 1103 Meadow Rd. in Northbrook was stopped for driving with a flat tire. He was found to be DUI and was taken to the police department for processing. He was released on bond.

On Saturday on the 600 block of Berglund a woman reported that she saw a beige minivan park in front of her house and at least six kids go into the park. Six juveniles were issued tickets for underage drinking and released to their parents.

BURGLARY:

On Monday it was reported that someone gained access to a company trailer on the 100 block of Sanders by cutting the hasp. Three rolls of copper tubing and a Honda water pump were taken.

On Thursday at Northbrook Court it was reported that someone entered an unlocked Honda and took a backpack from the rear seat.

On Tuesday it was reported that someone cut a trailer’s folding door bracket on the 1900 block of Willow Rd. Items removed included two Echo backpack leaf blowers and Stihl and Echo line trimmers. The loss is estimated at $1,250.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE:

On Saturday on the 1600 block of Ferndale a woman reported that someone used an unknown object to break her bedroom window. Loss is estimated at $150.

On Monday it was reported that someone broke a window on a business located on the 500 block of Dundee Rd. The damage estimate is in excess of $300.

On Tuesday on the 2500 block of Salceda a woman reported that she had a repairman come to her home to look at her AC unit which was not working properly. The repairman reported that the front and side metal screens that protect the coils of the unit had been smashed or pushed in. It
is unknown when the damage happened.

On Friday on the 1300 block of Shermer Rd. a man reported leaving work and finding a scratch on his car from the rear quarter panel to the passenger’s door.

On Friday on the 2600 block of Shannon a homeowner reported his front lawn had been damaged by an unknown vehicle. Loss is reported in the amount of $200.

On Friday on the 1000 block of Woodbine a homeowner reported parkway damage in the amount of $200.

DRUGS:

On Saturday it was reported that Raecel R. Mackrola of 19 Birch St. in Carpentersville was charged with DUI and Possession of Cannabis. Amanda Sallander of 2611 Woodland in Northbrook was charged with Possession of Cannabis. They were taken to the police station for processing and released on bond.

THEFT:

On Tuesday on the 400 block of Academy Drive a report was filed of a lost shipment of stainless steel that was picked up on May 8, 2013 never arrived at its destination in Kalamazoo, MI. The loss is estimated at $15,000.

On Tuesday it was reported that Azam A. Mirza of 212 Voltz Rd. in Northbrook attempted to leave a store on the 100 block of Skokie Highway with $94 in merchandise that had not been paid for. He was issued a ticket and released at the scene.

On Tuesday on the 1600 block of Seton a man stated that he received an email that he believed to be from his friend who lives in New Jersey.  His friend stated that she needed help for a
friend and requested that he send money via Money Gram to a Wal-Mart in Baltimore. The complainant sent the money. A few days later he received a call from his friend who stated that her email account had been compromised and that several of her email contacts received a similar request.

On Thursday it was reported that a lock box with money that was kept in a nightstand went missing on the 200 block of Skokie Highway.

On Saturday on the 100 block of Skokie Highway it was reported that Nancy Santos of 218 Lewellyn in Highwood was charged with Retail Theft. She was taken to the police station for
processing and escorted to the Lake County jail on outstanding warrants.

On Tuesday it was reported that a forklift on the 2300 block of Shermer Rd. went missing and could not be located.
