The following incidents were included in the official reports of the Northbrook Police Department for the week of May 6 through May 12. Any persons listed are assumed to be innocent until found guilty by a court of law. It is the policy of this site to not to print the names af anyone under 18 years of age or those whose age cannot be determined from the police report.
ALCOHOL:
On Sunday it was reported that Ryan Nichols of 1835 George Ct. in Glenview was charged with DUI after being stopped for a traffic infraction. He was taken to the police station for processing and released on bond.
On Sunday it was reported that Paul G. Demik of 7350 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago was charged with DUI and Resisting a Peace Officer. Mr. Demik was stopped for a traffic infraction and
determined to be DUI. He was taken to the police station for processing and released on bond.
On Sunday it was reported that Gideon Schwartzman of 1731 Marcee Lane in Northbrook, Matthew J. Komie of 2261 Southbridge Lane in Northbrook, and Andrew E. Smith of 9 Mill Neck Lane in Mittsford, NY were all charged with Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.
BURGLARY:
On Friday on the 3000 block of White Pine Drive it was reported that a man approached a homeowner and lured him to the rear of the yard to speak about performing landscape duties. Later, the homeowner found several pieces of jewelry missing from the master bedroom.
On Sunday on the 100 block of Trailwood Lane a resident reported returning to the home and finding that the front door had been broken open and someone had illegally entered the home.
Dresser drawers in a bedroom were found opened and jewelry was reported missing.
On Sunday on the 700 block of Greenwood a homeowner reported that someone removed alcohol from an attached garage with a value of $575.00.
On Thursday on the 2000 block of Illinois Rd. a woman reported returning home and finding that her house had been burglarized. Jewelry and electronic items were reported missing.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE:
On Thursday on the 2800 block of Farmington a woman reported that someone broke the driver side mirror on her car. Loss estimate is $1500.
On Thursday on the 2300 block of Maple a man reported that someone shattered the rear window of his car that was parked on the driveway.
CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT:
On Monday on the 3100 block of Floral Dr. it was reported that a basketball court had been defaced. Damage is estimated at $200.
THEFT:
On Sunday a woman on the 100 block of Skokie Highway reported that she receive a phone call from her credit card company advising her that over $20,000 in purchases were made against her cards in a short period of time. The woman checked her purse and discovered her wallet was missing. It is unknown when and where the wallet was taken.
On Thursday on the 2300 block of Shermer Rd. a man reported that someone took his iPhone 4 from his jeans pocket. Loss is estimated at $400.
On Sunday a woman reported having a meal in a restaurant on the 1000 block of Willow. When she left the restaurant, she noticed her wallet was missing from her purse. The woman cancelled her credit cards and bank accounts. Charges in excess of $5K had been made to her credit cards.
TRESPASSING:
On Thursday at Northbrook Court it was reported that Escedreau L. Neil of 8506 S. Jeffery Blvd. in Chicago was charged with Trespassing. It was determined that Mr. Neil had been involved in prior retail thefts and had been previously advised that he was not to return to the mall. He was taken to the police station for processing and released on bond.
