Library Food Drive

The Northbrook Public Library is hosting a food drive to benefit the Northfield Township Food Pantry beginning June 1 – 30. Show your community spirit and bring in a food donation for the Northfield Township Food Pantry. The food drive is part of the Library’s commitment for 4^th of July to honor the parade theme “Unity through Community”. The next time you are coming to the Library, please bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the food pantry. Donations will be collected at the Library Circulation desk. We invite the whole community to participate. We hope to display evidence of a vast amount of food items on our parade float. The Pantry supplies food for those in need from Glenview, Northbrook and a part of Northfield. Let’s see what we can raise together!

Northbrook Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing and Dinner

The Northbrook Chamber of Commerce & Industry will hold a golf event at Sportsman's Country Club on Friday, June 14, 2013. Early bird registration is until May 28. Costs are $180 for individuals, $695 for a foursome - after May 28 - $190 per golfer. To register call 847-498-5555.

11th Annual Rubber Ducky Race at Village Green

It's the Rotary Club's annual Rubber Ducky Race! You can enter a duck in the race for $5 or enter six ducks for $25 (the popular Quack Pack). Park District - Northbrook Community Choir event

Jennifer Whiting will lead the Northbrook Community Choir on May 31 in a concert called "ChiaroScuro" Light and Shadow" at the Northbrook Theatre. 45 members will be accompanied by a string quartet, piano and percussion. Reserved seats are $8, available by pnone at 847-291-2995 or at the Box Office in the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Avenue.

GBN Concert in the Park

Come to the GBN Concert in the Park at the Village Green on Saturday, June 1st at 12:30 p.m. to hear the Glenbrook North bands and choirs perform. Bring your chairs and blankets! Help support the Band Parent Organization by buying snacks at the concession booth. Free admission!

Memorial Day Weekend Events

Volunteers are needed on Saturday, May 25 at 10 a.m. for the Posting of Flags on Veteran's grave sites at the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Lee Road. All residents are welcome to participate. The Northbrook Memorial Day Parade steps off from the corner of Cherry and Western at 10:30 a.m. All are invited to attend the traditional American Legion Memorial Day ceremony at the Village Green Park. Show your patriotism! Fly your flags all weekend!.

13th Annual Lew Blond Memorial 5K Run/Walk, 1 Mile Run

Start off on Saturday, June 1, 8 a.m. at Maple School, 2370 Shermer Rd. Volunteer and sponsors are needed. Call 847-400-8900. Register at www.district30.org/lewblondrun.

Coffee with the Village Board

Join Village President, Sandy Frum and the Board in an informal setting at the Village Hall on Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to express opinions, ask questions and provide input on items of interest in the Village.

Northbrook Pools - Opening Dates

The Sports Center Pool will open for the 2013 season on Saturday, May 25. Preseason hours are 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. on weekends and the holiday and 3 - 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. The regular season begins on June 8 when Meadowhill Aquatic Center opens. Visit nbparks.org

Get a Park Permit for a Party or Event!

Beginning February 1, community based groups and school districts can apply for an outdoor facility permit. Parks and shelters are available for rent from May through October with special rates for resident school and scout groups. Residents can apply for permits on March 1 and non-residents can apply on April 1. For more information, visit nbparks.org
