It's Park Fest Time! The free Tuesday night concerts begin at 7 p.m. with food service from area restaurants beginning at 6 p.m. For weather information, call the Northbrook Park District Weather/Activity Hotline at 847-291-2985 for updates.   • Annual Police Dept. vs. Fire Dept. Softball Game at the Village Green at 10 a.m.
  • Decorated Bicycle Parade at 2 p.m. Registration forms are available at George Garner Cyclery, 1111 Waukegan Rd. Prizes!
  • The Mile-long Parade at 2:30 p.m. steps off at the corner of Cherry and Western.
  • Fireworks at Dusk - Thursday, July 4th at Meadowhill Park, 1475 Maple Ave.

Please note that June 23 is the last day for discounted registration for the Liberty Loop 5K on July 4.

The Library and the American Red Cross will host a blood drive on Saturday, July 6 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Pollak Room of the Library. You will have an opportunity to show your community spirit and do a good deed. Look for registration and requirement information at the circulation desk and on our website, www.northbrook.info.

Northbrook Farmers Market 2013 Opens June 19 in Downtown

 

Taste a slice of summer as Village President Sandy Frum officially opens the Northbrook Farmers Market 5th season Wednesday, June 19, in a new downtown location--the parking lot of Meadow Plaza, Cherry & Meadow.The traditional Watermelon-Cutting Ceremony begins at 10 a.m. with a blessing of the market by Northbrook Clergy Association and short presentations by other local dignitaries.

Then, a morning of fun activities is presented by NorthShore University HealthSystem, which will offer free recycled grocery bags to anyone who stops by their booth. 

There are no fees to participate in any of the events: 

 

  • Free coffee from Starbucks
  • Hit tunes from 60s, 70s & 80s provided by WJMK 104.3 K-Hits Chicago
  • Face-painting and craft booth by Community Nursery School and Mustard Seed Preschool
  • Free popcorn at Sunset Foods wagon
  • RC Juggles balloon animals
  • Northbrook Police and Fire Department vehicles to tour.

Shop the numerous booths for farm fresh produce and other delicious artisan foods.

It's party time! Come to the Block Party at St. Norbert on Saturday, June 8th at Walters & Meadow in Northbrook. Rain or Shine! Admission is $5 but after 7 p.m. $10. A 5k race begins at 7 a.m. The Beer Garden & Grill opens at 3 p.m. Live music and a fun time for all. Plan to attend. The Northbrook Public Library is hosting a food drive to benefit the Northfield Township Food Pantry beginning June 1 – 30. Show your community spirit and bring in a food donation for the Northfield Township Food Pantry. The food drive is part of the Library’s commitment for 4th of July to honor the parade theme “Unity through Community”. The next time you are coming to the Library, please bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the food pantry. Donations will be collected at the Library Circulation desk. We invite the whole community to participate. We hope to display evidence of a vast amount of food items on our parade float. The Pantry supplies food for those in need from Glenview, Northbrook and a part of Northfield. Let’s see what we can raise together!
