    Teen Advisory Board Meeting #3
    Finals may be months away, but it’s time to start some serious Finals Cafe planning. Let’s start thinking about the cafe dates, snacks, drinks, activities and desired study aids. We will also be deciding on which goodwill service activity to do for our holiday meeting. If you sponsor a particular cause or know of any service projects, let us know! As always, there will be pizza and soda.

  • Concert and Commentary with Jim Kendros

    MultiMedia Department

    Pre-concert lecturer Jim Kendros will discuss the Northbrook Symphony's upcoming November 19 concert, The Spirituality of Music: Man's Glorious Search for the Infinite. Jim will highlight what to listen for and delve into the lives of the composers and their times. He will conclude with a mini concert on one of his unusual string instruments.

  • Book Discussion: I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

    Benjamin Goluboff leads a discussion of "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," a memoir by the late great Maya Angelou about growing up black in Arkansas in the 1930s and 40s.

    Copies of the book are available at the Reader Services desk on the 3rd floor.

    The meeting will be held in the Youth Services Activity Room on the second floor of the library.

    Calling all young authors and illustrators! Bring your finished story or manuscript to be illustrated and peer reviewed. Illustrate someone else’s story. Learn about book design and the publishing process. Then have your story published by the library for others to check out and admire. Register online or call 847.272.4300. Email completed stories to nbkyouth@northbrook.info or drop them off at the desk.

    Open to those who have not previously participated in the program. Must attend all 4 sessions.
