The Star Wars films not only reshaped expectations of what cinema could deliver, but also sparked the world’s imagination. Step back in time to 1977 with College of Lake County sociology instructors Maria Jose and John Tenuto, who will share their research of more than 2000 newspaper articles that appeared in U.S. and British papers from 1977-1983 exploring how culture reacted to - and was influenced by - the original trilogy of films. The Tenutos will share stories, forgotten trivia, rare photographs from fans, and more during a look at the world’s newest mythology, painting a vivid picture of what it was like when Star Wars premiered and exploring why it resonates today.
