Going Green with NPL

During our renovation, we will continue to accept household batteries for recycling as well as donations of old cell phones and eyeglasses. The bins are still in the lobby near the east entrance. Thanks for your contributions.

Celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day with activities at the Village Green Park in Northbrook on Saturday, April 26.

8:30am:

  • Cleanup volunteers will collect debris and windblown trash and hunt for a hidden sign for a chance to win a prize. Meet at the corner of Shermer and Meadow to register.
  • Recycling drop-off begins at the west side commuter lot by the Northbrook METRA station.
    • Paint
    • Molded styrofoam
    • Tires
    • Fluorescent bulbs
    • Printer cartridges
    • Household batteries
    • Computers, TVs, electronics
    • Household goods (donated to Goodwill)
    • Onsite document shredding

9:30am-1pm:

  • Over 50 exhibitors promoting earth-friendly ideas and concepts to implement in your home or business.
  • Free tree seedlings and a chance to win a tree.
  • Children's activities including pony rides.
  • Music by local performers.
  • Bicycle safety training for ages 5 and up - bring your bike.
  • Don't forget to stop by the library's booth!
