hoopla! Digital movies, music, tv and audiobooks

Hoopla is free service that allows you to check out and watch or listen to audiobooks, movies, tv shows, and music on your computer or portable device. Titles are always available, so there's never a wait. Because titles expire on their own, you don't have to worry about returning them or accruing fines! Check out up to 8 titles a month. Full details here.

MacBook and iPad check out
Check out a MacBook or iPad

The library has two 15" MacBook Pros for Northbrook patrons to use in-house! Both laptops come with apps like standard Apple apps, Office for Mac (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), Adobe's Creative Cloud collection, which includes Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and more. If you're in high school or older, stop at the Periodicals Desk on the second floor with your Northbrook library card and a current ID to check one out for up to 3 hours. We also have iPads for in-library use, preloaded with over 90 apps, available at the Periodicals Desk!

No charge for DVDs & Rental Books into February. Also, new check out spots!

Bad news: construction means we've had to temporarily move our 1st floor check out desk to the 2nd floor Magazines & Newspapers Room. Good news: there's no charge to check out any DVD or rental book until the desk reopens on the first floor, likely toward the end of February! Late fines still apply.
