What is Print Motivation?

What is Print Motivation?

Print Motivation is your child’s interest in and enjoyment of books. Sharing favorite books and visiting the library often are ways to ensure your child’s love of reading and books. Making time for book sharing with as little as twenty minutes a day has proven to increase a child’s reading success. It may also end up being your favorite daily activity!

How can I help my child develop Print Motivation?

Share books when the time is right for you and your child. Carry books with you to read when you’re waiting at the doctor’s office or in line at the grocery store. Re-read favorite books. Let your child choose books on a favorite subject or favorite character! Choosing books fitting your child's interests helps to keep him engaged in reading. Reading the same books over and over again may seem boring to you, but it's an important part of your child's learning process.
