The following incidents were included in the official reports of the Northbrook Police Department for the week ending February 3. Any persons listed are assumed to be innocent until found guilty by a court of law. It is the policy of this site to not to print the names of anyone under 18 years of age or those whose age cannot be determined from the police report.
On Friday it was reported that Clifford M. Moorehead of 1005 Sussex in Northbrook became involved in an auto accident and was determined to be DUI. He was taken to the police station for processing and released on bond.
On Wednesday on the 2200 block of Carlson Drive it was reported that Moises Salazar Mendoza of 5149 W. School Street in Chicago was charged with Theft after police officers took a report of several power tools missing from a company vehicle. Parking lot video showed Mr. Mendoza taking the tools. Employees recognized Mr. Mendoza from the video footage. He was described as a terminated employee that had not returned his company keys. Mr. Mendoza turned himself in at the Police Station on January 28, 2014. He was processed and released on bond.
On Sunday it was reported that a car parked on the 1300 block of Shermer had its rear passenger side window damaged.
On Thursday on the 400 block of Skokie Highway a woman reported that she parked her silver 2014 Kia in a parking lot. She returned to her car after work and found it had been stolen. Inquiries into the woman’s license plate determined that her car was involved in a hit and run crash in Waukegan shortly before the car was reported stolen to the Northbrook Police Department.
SUPPLEMENT. TO THEFT:
It was reported by Northbrook Police that Eric R. Smorovsky of 11730 Cape Cod Lane in Huntley and Stefanie L. Beyer of 8034 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Niles were identified by store personnel and subsequently arrested for the theft of a DeWalt power drill valued at $279.00 that occurred on January 14, 2014.
A student reported that a blue gym bag was stolen from his locker at GBN. Loss is estimated at $20.00.
On Wednesday at Northbrook Court a man reported that someone removed the catalytic converter from his car while it was parked in the lot. Loss is estimated at $900.00.
On Sunday on the 800 block of Willow Rd. it was reported that Juan B. Dominicci of 831 W. 37th Street in Chicago tried to conceal $649.00 in products and leave a store without making payment. H was taken to the Police Department for processing and released on bond.
