The Parisian Salon Concerts association was founded by Didier Lepauw during November, 1999, in Chicago, as part of an international tribute to Frederic Chopin launched by UNESCO, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the great composer's death.
Inspired by the Parisian salons of old, and by Chopin's preference for playing in the private salons of wealthy and aristocratic patrons, Mr. Lepauw organized 14 Parisian Salon Concerts in downtown Chicago. Didier was formerly First Violinist of the Paris Symphony.
The current home of the monthly Parisian Salon Concerts is the Northbrook Public Library of Illinois.
Performances by talented musicians are organized and introduced by Jane and Didier Lepauw on the First Fridays of each month, year 'round, starting at 7:30pm, and ADMISSION IS FREE. The organization continues to support and propagate the art of music.
" Classical music is the kind we keep thinking will turn into a tune. "
Kin Hubbard (1868 - 1930)
