    Pre-concert lecturer Jim Kendros will discuss the Northbrook Symphony's upcoming April 12 concert, "In Mahler's Shadow: Bohemian Revelry and the Path to Resurrection," and the May 3 concert, "Franco-Prussian Fresco: German Epic and French Reverie." Jim will highlight what to listen for and delve into the lives of the composers and their times. He will conclude with a mini concert on one of his unusual string instruments.

    Benjamin Goluboff leads a discussion of "The Frozen Rabbi" by Steve Stern. Copies of the book are available at the 3rd floor Reader Services desk.

    Rabbi Eliezer ben Zephyr is inadvertently frozen in 1890 and, after being transported to 21st century Memphis, is accidently thawed by 15-year-old Bernie Karp, who begins to follow the rabbi's teachings with unforeseen consequences.
