  • AARP Driver Safety, part 2

    This two-session defensive driving course sponsored by AARP will help make you a better and safer driver. You may be eligible for a discount on the liability portion of your car insurance.

    This class meets at in the South Village Room of Covenant Village, 2625 Techny Road.

    Yoga instructor Olga Rudiak leads a series of yoga sessions for improved physical strength, relaxation and mental clarity. Exercises are done in a chair or standing not on the floor.

    Yoga meets at the Village Hall in the Board Room. Space is limited to the first 70 people in attendance.

  • A Tyrone Power Centennial

    May marks the 100th birthday of legendary actor Tyrone Power, “The King of 20th Century Fox”. The daughter of Tyrone Power and actress Linda Christian, Taryn Power-Greendeer was only 5 when her father died at the age of 44 in 1958. She will talk about growing up as the daughter of a film idol and the process of learning how to separate the man from the myth. A feature of her talk will be the fascinating search she and her older sister, Romina, took to help discover the real Tyrone Power. A Limited First Edition of Searching for My Father, Tyrone Power by Romina Power, available only at centennial events, will be on sale at the event. Friday, May 2nd at 2:00 in the MultiMedia department.

  • Parisian Salon Concert - Anastasia Royal

    Singer, composer and pianist Anastasia Royal and guitarist Andrew Kremer will join forces in Duo A2 for a program of exuberant pieces by Brahms, but also Santoro, Brouwer, Piazzola, and Royal.

    Andrew Kremer is a Chicago area guitarist who began playing at the age of 12 under the instruction of Jim Konsbruck. His studies with Jim would last throughout high school.

    Andrew holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition from Columbia College Chicago. During his time there he studied composition with Philip Seward, orchestration with Ilya Levinson, and classical guitar with Norman Ruiz. Andrew has also studied jazz guitar with Dave Saenger, Frank Portolese and Bill Boris.

    Pursuing classical guitar further, Andrew participated in the International Festival de la Guitarra in Cordoba Spain where he studied with Pepe Romero and Pavel Steidl. (2005)

    Andrew won first prize in the Society of American Musicians collegiate classical guitar competition. Following this he gave a concert for the Chicago Classical Guitar Society featuring the music of Sor, Rodrigo, Barrios, and Guiliani. (2007)
