Meet Turnbull Woods

7:00 pm
Pollak Room AB

Did you know that there are over 70,000 acres of preserved open land for hiking, biking, picnicking, and camping in Cook County? One of the most unique ecosystems is right next door, Turnbull Woods in Glencoe. Forest Preserve Steward Teri Radke will show how regular residents restored Turnbull Woods from a depleted area overgrown with invasive plants into a healthy woodland teeming with hundreds of species of native animals and plants. Learn about opportunities to engage in “citizen science” in the forest.

Chasing Coral: Documentary & Discussion

1:00 pm

Coral reefs are surprisingly complex ecosystems that support marine life. This gorgeous film will show how coral bleaching destroys the corals and puts animals at risk, and shows the way to restoring the corals to health.
Inspired by an environmental studies class, a Northbrook high school student will facilitate a post-screening discussion.
