Volunteers will Help You Fix a Household Item at Northbrook Repairs

Our popular Northbrook Repairs event returns on Saturday, May 6 from 1:00-3:30pm. The goal of Northbrook Repairs is to give people a chance to learn some repair skills and to help keep as many items out of landfills as possible. You are invited to bring a household item in need of repair to be matched with one of our skilled volunteers who will try to help you fix it, free of charge.

Items brought to previous Northbrook Repairs events have included lamps, toys, clothing, bags, and even bicycles! We’ve kept hundreds of items out of landfills and we hope to continue doing so. Please note that your item must be small enough for you to carry (that means no lawnmowers or other large machines, or anything leaking, dangerous, containing gasoline, or having a strong odor will be accepted).

A gentle reminder, items will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis, and only one item will be accepted at a time (those with more than one item will be sent to the back of the line to wait their turn again). We ask that you be patient and prepared to wait so that everyone has a chance. Please note: no items will be accepted after 3:00pm.

And we thank the volunteers who have signed up to help at this year’s event—we couldn’t do it without you! Click here for further details on this event. For questions, please call 847-272-2098.
