Computers, Scanning, Faxing

Anyone using our Internet access (either on our computers or their own device) must agree to abide by our Internet Access Policy.

WiFi access is available throughout the library. The network is open and users are strongly encouraged to take precautions to protect laptops and other Internet devices.

Public Computers

Computers are available on a walk-in basis for 2 hours with two 30-minute extensions if no one is waiting.

You can visit the Reference desk on the 2nd floor to check out an HP Laptop for 3 hours to use in the library. You must be in high school or older, with a school ID or state ID/driver's license that matches your registered library card in good standing. We also offer MacBook Pros to check out for Northbrook cardholders.

Microfilm Machine

We have an updated microfilm machine that can read microfilm and microfiche. The machine will crop articles and includes scanning and email functionality.

Equipment for Visual Enhancement

A computer for the visually impaired with software that magnifies text and images is located in the 2nd floor Reference area.

Printing, Copying, Scanning, Faxing

We have two copier/printers on the second floor that print in black and white and color. These machines accept credit cards. There is an additional black and white printer in the Teen Loft.

Print from Anywhere

Send your print to the Library using our Print from Anywhere service. Print jobs appear in the public print queue for two hours. After two hours, print orders automatically cancel and disappear.

Scanning and Faxing

We have a dedicated scanning and faxing machine on the second floor near our copiers.

Interactive Classroom

Our Interactive Classroom seats 14, and is the setting for our computer classes on a wide variety of applications and eResources.
