Volunteer at the Library

Northbrook Public Library's Volunteer Program provides opportunities for individuals to make a positive impact in their community while gaining meaningful experiences. Help is needed with all kinds of jobs, some simple and some more complex. Please note: We are unable to provide court-ordered community service hours at this time.

Ongoing Volunteer Program (14 years–Adult)

Please visit our Ongoing Volunteer Application to explore our open volunteer roles. If you are interested in one of the roles, please complete the online application. If nothing sparks your interest, please check back periodically for new volunteer opportunities. If you have questions, please contact Janelle Duthie, our Volunteer Coordinator, at jduthie@northbrook.info or 847-252-1236.

If you are interested in volunteering for the Friends of the Library Bookshop, please visit their page for more information.

Teen Advisory Board (Grades 6–12)

Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a great opportunity if you are in grades 6-12 and need more service hours for NHS, are interested in civic engagement and social responsibility, or really love the library and like helping out. We plan teen programs and complete service projects for the community while earning service hours. Our TAB program meets from September to May each year. Attendance at every meeting is NOT required, but we do hope you come to as many as you can!
