
In October 2025, One Book, One Northbrook invited the community to read Symphony of Secrets by Brendan Slocumb, and then explore its themes through lectures, concerts, and discussions, including an evening with the author. This shared experience provided a great way to connect with neighbors and friends.

Chevalier is inspired by the remarkable true story of Joseph Bologne, the son of an enslaved African woman and a French plantation owner, who rose to improbable heights in 18th-century French society as a celebrated violinist, composer, and fencer.

Teens in grades 6-12 are invited to join us to discuss A Mango-Shaped Space by Wendy Mass, and enjoy some snacks. This book features a main character with synesthesia, a condition where the senses blend in unique ways, which ties into the themes of our One Book, One Northbrook selection. The first 8 registered teens will receive a free copy of the book.
