Summer Reading Challenge

A gardening scene with a planter, seeds, and someone sowing seeds

Get Ready! Our Summer Reading Challenge starts on June 1

Get ready to grow your reading skills and nourish your imagination! Last year, over 3,000 people participated, including 867 adults, 528 teens, 1,641 youth, and 102 babies!

The goal of our Summer Reading Challenge is to encourage a lifelong love of reading. And, although reading is its own reward, we also have fun activities and prizes planned throughout the program! To make it easier to log your reading, you can sign up and log your reading at the library or participate online.

About this year's theme

This year's theme, "Plant a Seed, Read," is rooted in the concept of farm-to-table. A farm grows food that nourishes our bodies; a library grows ideas that nourish our minds. Both food and stories connect us to our family, culture, economy, and ecology.

Summer Reading is sponsored by the Friends of the Northbrook Public Library.
