Get ready to "Find Your Voice" with Summer Reading. Starting June 1, you can sign up here online or sign up at the library at one of our service desks. Watch our Summer Reading video.

Log your reading

Sign up for Summer Reading

You can either sign up at the library or sign up and log your reading online using the READquared website or app.

To sign up online:

  1. Visit our READsquared page or download the READsquared app on the App Store or Google Play.

  2. From the top right of the page, click Register (to create a new account) or Login (if you already have an account). If you created an account for one of our past reading programs, you can use the same account information to log in.

  3. Once you log in, to add a reading activity, click the "Log Reading" button.

  4. Enter your reading activity and click the "Submit" button.

If you're having trouble logging your reading, please call the Youth Services dept. at 847-272-4300 or the Fiction & Media department at 47-272-2830.

Kickoff Week Scavenger Hunt

We're kicking off Summer Reading with a fun scavenger hunt around the library from June 1-7. And while you're here, make sure to sign up for Summer Reading and pick up an exclusive "Find Your Voice" car magnet, while supplies last. 

We're also making it easy for you to sign up and grab a magnet at our pop-up Summer Reading desk in the lobby at the following library events during our kickoff week: 

Friday, June 2, 10am-12pm Movie: Encanto Signalong (All Ages)
Friday, June 2, 11am-2pm Violins of Hope Display
Friday, June 2, 2pm-3:15pm Concert: The New Fidl Kapelye
Saturday, June 3, 10:30am-11am: Saturday Storytime (All Ages, Drop-In)
Monday, June 5, 7-8pm: Concert: Covington's Windy City Bluegrass Band

Adult Summer Reading

Log your reading to be entered into our weekly gift card drawing, and after logging four books, you’ll earn a nifty lunch cooler, and a Friends' Bookshop coupon. You'll also be entered into our Grand Prize Drawing for a chance to win a Samsung tablet. Try something from our summer reading lists.

Teen Summer Reading

(Grades 6-12) Log your reading to earn coupons and win prizes (like a free book). After completing the program, you can complete additional bonus activities to earn even more prizes.

Teen drawing prizes include:

  • Apple Watch SE
  • $100 Amazon Gift Card
  • $100 Book Bin Gift card

Youth Summer Reading

(3yrs. - Grade 5) Log your reading to earn coupons and win prizes (like a free book). After completing the program, you can complete additional bonus activities to earn even more prizes. 

Youth drawing prizes include: 

  • $100 Book Bin Gift Card
  • 24” Bike donated by George Garner Cyclery
  • Recorder Box from Brand New Noise
  • Nintendo Switch
  • LEGO Mario Set

Baby Summer Reading

(Birth - 3 yrs.) Caregivers can read to their little ones to earn a shaker egg and a free book for completing the program.

Baby drawing Prizes include:
