Ways to Support the Library

The Library welcomes your generosity in supporting our mission. Gifts to the Library are gifts to the entire community.  Donations are publically recognized in an appropriate manner, depending on the type and size.

Monetary Donations
The Library actively encourages donations to the library. Monetary gifts offered with conditions, including endowment funds, are subject to review and approval by the Library Board.

You can make an immediate credit card donation, either directly to the Library or to our Foundation through PayPal. Payment can be made by Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express.

Commemorative Gifts
Consider purchasing a memorial brick or name a seat in the Auditorium. All gifts are tax-deductible and go to the Northbrook Public Library Foundation, which supports the library’s capital improvement projects.

Friends of the Library Donations
Donate to the Friends. Joining the Friends is a great way to support the library and receive special benefits.

Sponsorships
Through the generosity of sponsors, the Library is able to present a wide variety of programs, projects, and events that would otherwise be outside of our budget. We welcome sponsorship from individuals, businesses, and organizations. Contact our Business Manager to find an appropriate opportunity.

Artwork
All gifts of art and sculpture must be approved by the Library Board prior to acceptance.  The Library reserves the right to determine where and when artwork will be shown. Please contact the Assistant Director for more information on artwork donations.

Books

Thousands of used books are donated to the library every year. These items are evaluated by the staff and a small percentage are added to our collection, while the majority are sold in the Friends of the Library Used Bookshop. For tax purposes, the Library can supply documentation on the number of books donated, however, we cannot assign a value to them.

Book donations can be dropped off at the Friends of the Library Used Bookshop (located near the west entrance) during their open hours or in the donation bin in the west vestibule. We do NOT accept encyclopedias, medical, or legal texts. or A/V materials. We regret that we cannot pick up donations from locations outside the Library.

For tax purposes, we can supply documentation on the number of books donated, however, we cannot assign a value to them. To obtain a donation receipt, please visit the Bookshop during its open hours.
