Many of these platforms require an account and allow for text interaction between players, so be careful and monitor young kids while playing.

Tabletop Role-Playing Games

  • Roll20.net: Prepare, run, and join virtual tabletop RPGs. Roll20 has a marketplace to purchase RPG rulebooks and virtual assets.

  • D&DBeyond: An online portfolio where you can store characters and design encounters. You can also run a campaign here and keep track of your players and maps. D&DBeyond has a marketplace to purchase D&D rulebooks and sourcebook. Learn how to play D&D online.

Board Games

  • Boardgamearena.com: Play a selection of board games with other players online, either live or turn by turn. You can invite others to your game, and there is a built-in chat feature. A premium membership unlocks more games.

  • Happymeeple.com: Play a smaller selection of games against the computer. You build up your own meeple by winning games.

  • Tabletopia.com: Play online alone or with others online.

  • Steam and the App Store. Recommended games include: Pandemic, Forbidden Island, Forbidden Desert, Star Realms, Splendor, Ticket to Ride, Sushi Go, 7 Wonders, Tsuro, and Carccassone.
