Message of Peace Displayed Outside Northbrook Public Library with the Installation of a New Peace Pole

A large pole stands near the library's sign

Last Thursday evening, members of the Library staff, Board, and Rotary Club of Northbrook celebrated the installation of a Peace Pole near the Northbrook Public Library sign. Reflecting Northbrook’s diversity, the Peace Pole displays the phrase "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in English, Greek, Hebrew, Korean, Mandarin, Polish, Russian, and Spanish. The languages were selected based on demographic data and local schools.

A gift of the Rotary Club of Northbrook, the Peace Pole was dedicated with a short ceremony, during which Library Executive Director Kate Hall, Library Board President Stacey Oliver, and Rotarian Donna Lee Gulley each spoke about the significance of the message.

The Rotary Club of Northbrook has also recently installed Peace Poles at Village Hall, the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce, and Northbrook Bank & Trust. With the Peace Pole, Northbrook Public Library has joined a global movement of more than 250,000 installations worldwide serving as monuments to peace.
