Our curbside service has moved indoors for the season. You will be able to pick up your items in the library using a door from the parking lot on the south side of the building, facing Village Hall. Please look for the sign to enter the building when you drive into the parking lot. Also, since you will be entering the building, please remember to wear a mask and maintain 6' of distance from others. Watch a video to learn about curbside pickup in the Pollak Room.

We are working hard to ensure a safe curbside pickup experience for patrons and staff. We are basing our capacity for curbside pickup based on safety guidelines. Curbside pickup is only available to Northbrook library card holders at this time. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

How does curbside pickup work?

1. Place holds online or by phone.

You can place holds online at www.northbrook.info/catalog or call us at 847-272-6224. Curbside pickup is only available to Northbrook library card holders at this time.

2. Schedule a pickup time. 

Once you're notified a hold is ready, visit www.northbrook.info/curbside to schedule your pickup or schedule by phone at 847-272-6224. Please do not schedule a pickup time until your holds are ready. 

Pickups can be scheduled from Monday to Friday from 9:30am-12:00pm & 2:00-4:30pm, Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00-4:30pm, and Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm.

3. Find your assigned pickup space.

On your scheduled day and time, follow the signs to the south side of the library and park your car in a space. Please do not park in handicap spaces unless you have a disability license plate or placard.

4. Enter the building and retrieve your items.

Follow the signs to enter the south side of the library from the parking lot. When you enter the room, look for the table indicated on the notification email you received. A paper bag labeled with your name that contains your items will be waiting for you. Please remember to wear a mask before entering the building.

Where is curbside pickup located?

As you drive into the parking lot, please park your car on the south/southeast side of the building, and look for the sign pointing to the door to enter the Pollak Room from the parking lot. The door is on the south side of the building, facing Village Hall. If you are at the main doors to the library, walk outside around the building to your left. The Pollak Room cannot be entered from inside the library.

Will my current holds be available for curbside pickup?

Yes, any holds that are currently available will be available for scheduling a curbside pickup. If you have a physical item on hold that you no longer want to pick up, please cancel your hold at www.northbrook.info/account or call us at 847-272-6224.

What can I put on hold for curbside pickup?

You can put holds on books, blu-rays, and DVDs (including "Lucky Day" copies), new magazines, and Rokus. Consult our list of holdable items to learn more.

How can I request items for curbside pickup?

Visit www.northbrook.info/catalog and place a hold on any items you would like to pick up. You can also place a hold by phone at 847-272-6224. When your hold is ready, you will receive an automated notification based on your account preferences. Once you receive this notification, you can schedule your curbside pickup.

How can I reserve time to pick up my items?

Please do not schedule a pickup time until your holds are ready. Once your holds are ready, visit www.northbrook.info/curbside to access the curbside scheduling tool. Next, you will select a day in time to pick up your items. You can also call 847-272-6224 to schedule a pickup day and time.

What times days and times are available for curbside pickup?

You can schedule any available 30-minute time slot Monday to Friday from 9:30am-12:00pm & 2:00-4:30pm, Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00-4:30pm, and Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm.

What if I need to cancel my scheduled pickup time?

In order to manage demand, we package pickups the day before the pickup time. As a result, curbside pickups cannot be canceled within 48 hours of their scheduled time. If you need to cancel a pickup outside of this 48-hour window, please call us at 847-272-6224.

What if I miss my scheduled pickup time?

Unfortunately, due to the volume of pickup requests, we cannot continue to hold items that are not picked up. Your items will be checked in the following day, and the holds will be canceled

How many days do I have to pick up my item?

We will hold all items for seven days and we recommend scheduling pickup times no longer than a week in advance.

Can I pick up items on foot or by bicycle? 

Yes! If you are picking up on foot or by bicycle, please maintain 6' physical distance from other patrons and watch for cars in the parking lot.

Will I need to leave my vehicle at any time? 

Yes, you will need to exit your vehicle to retrieve your items. Please maintain a safe physical distance and wear a face mask for your protection. If you require an accommodation, please call us at 847-272-2147 when you arrive for assistance.

How will my items be provided to me? 

Your items will be placed in a paper bag with a receipt and left in a numbered spot on a table in the Pollak Room. The items have been quarantined and have not been touched without gloves. 

What happens if I have a pickup time schedule then receive a notification that more of my holds are ready?

The day before your scheduled pickup time, we will gather together all of the holds we have available for you and package them for pickup. You do not need to schedule an additional pickup time. Please note, however, that since we are preparing pickups the day before, we may not have all materials ready for your scheduled date.

Can someone else pick up my items for me?

Yes, you can include an alternate name for pickup when you schedule a time.

Can I return items at the curbside pickup location?

Please use the drive-up bookdrops located near the west entrance of the building to return library materials. Learn more about returns.
