Our Curbside Pickup service provides a quick and easy way for you to get library materials. To use this service, place a hold on any library items that you would like to pick up, including books, blu-rays, and DVDs, and new magazines. See all of our holdable items.
Starting the day after you receive a notification from us that your hold is in, you can visit Curbside Pickup during any of the following days/times to pick up your checked-out items:
Enter through the door from the parking lot on the south side of the building, facing Village Hall. Look for a Curbside Pickup sign when you drive into the parking lot that will direct you to the door.
Checked-out items are alphabetized by your last name. Your item will be labeled with the first four letters of your last name, your first initial, and the last four digits of your library card number.
If you have a lot of items and need a bag, we will have bags available in the room.
Book Bundles, oversized items, crafts, and program pick-ups will still be placed on a table in the room.
How does curbside pickup work?
1. Place holds online or by phone.
You can place holds online at www.northbrook.info/catalog or call us at 847-272-6224.
2. Wait to receive notification that your holds are in.
Once you're notified your hold is in, starting the next day you can visit Curbside Pickup during any of the open hours. Checked-out items can be picked up for seven days after receiving your notification.
3. Park your car and enter the building
When you arrive at the library, follow the signs to the south side of the library and park your car in a space. If available, you may park in one of the designated Curbside Pickup spaces. Please do not park in handicap spaces unless you have a disability license plate or placard.
4. Enter the building and retrieve your items.
When you enter, look for your items on the shelves. Your items will be labeled with the first four letters of your last name, your first initial, and the last four digits of your library card number.

Starting the day after you're notified, you’ll have 7 days to pick up your items. We're checking out materials for 4 weeks, so you'll have up to one week to pick up your item and 3 more weeks to enjoy it. If you have an item on hold that you no longer want to pick up, please cancel your hold at www.northbrook.info/account or call us at 847-272-6224.
What can I put on hold for curbside pickup?

How can I request items for curbside pickup?
Visit www.northbrook.info/catalog and place a hold on any items you would like to pick up. You can also place a hold by phone at 847-272-6224. When your hold is ready, you will receive an automated notification based on your account preferences. Once you receive this notification, you can pick up your item starting the following day. Starting the day after you're notified, you'll have 7 days to pick up your item.
Will I need to leave my vehicle at any time?
Yes, you will need to exit your vehicle to retrieve your items. If you require accommodation, please call us at 847-272-2147 when you arrive for assistance.
Can I pick up items on foot or by bicycle?
Yes, but you will need to park your bike before entering the building.
Can I return items at the curbside pickup location?
You can return library items in the library's lobby or use the two drive-up bookdrops located near the west entrance of the building. Learn more about returns.
