We are seeking a customer-focused library assistant who is passionate about libraries and technology.  This position will provide reference and technology assistance at our busy Reference desk as well as reader’s advisory assistance at our Fiction & Media Desk.

ABI/INFORM Collection

Covers 1971-current.  Access thousands of full-text scholarly and trade journals, dissertations, working papers, and key business and economics periodicals.  Contains company profiles and industry-focused reports, including international coverage, providing a complete picture of companies and business trends around the world.

The Hidden Costs of eBooks & eAudiobooks

Like libraries across the country, we continue to experience a strong demand for digital materials, including digital books, audiobooks, and magazines, as well as streaming movies, TV, and music. Digital materials account for about 20% of our checkouts each year. For example, in 2024, Northbrook Library cardholders used the Libby app over 162,000 times to check out ebooks and eaudiobooks, in addition to accessing films, magazines, and music via the other digital library services.
